NDIA Update Payment Terms and Process

As from Monday 19th March 2024 the NDIA have changed their payment terms to all payments made. This includes agency managed, plan managed and self-managed plans Australia wide.

The Disability Intermediaries Association, of which Soothing Minds Plan Management is a member have indicated that:-

  • the NDIA will take more time to check claims before funds are released.
  • this will provide the NDIA more time for claims to be checked to reduce fraud and non-compliant behaviour.
  • valid claims will be paid within 2 to 3 business days where prior they used to be released overnight.
  • Some payments may take up to 10 days
  • Duplicate claims submitted within 14 days of the first claim will be reviewed for fraud and non-compliant behaviour.
  • Funds for claims being reviewed will only be released after the NDIA are satisfied, and all information has been provided.

If a claim is being reviewed, the NDIA will:

  • request more information.
  • send a fact sheet with instructions on how to resolve the specific claiming issue.

If the NDIA deems the information as not satisfactory, the claim will stay on hold. It will not be paid until the NDIA receives the right information.

  • Valid claims will have funds released around 6pm 2 business days after the claim is lodged

For example

a Claim lodged on Tuesday before midnight will now have funds released on Thursday around 6pm

a Claim lodged on Friday, Saturday or Sunday before midnight will now have funds released on Tuesday around 6pm
