At different times we all experience challenging emotional issues, and sometimes we can’t always deal with them on our own. If it isn’t an emergency, and you feel you need help, it’s best to make an appointment to see your doctor. They may ask you some personal questions to better understand your current situation, so that they can to assess what help you need. This may include
- making a mental health assessment
- generating a mental health treatment plan
- referring you to a mental health professional and/or
- prescribing you medication to treat depression or anxiety.
Once your doctor has assessed you as having a mental health disorder, together you can create a plan to treat it. The mental health treatment plan will have goals agreed by the both of you which will include treatment options and support services available. Your health information will be private as doctors cannot share your information unless you agree to it.
Mental Health treatment plans allow you to claim up to 10 individual and 10 group sessions with a mental health professional each calendar year. Normally, your doctor will refer you to 6 sessions after which time they will conduct a review to see how things are progressing with therapy and may then refer you to an additional 4 sessions.
The Soothing Minds team has mental health professionals that can help you with your mental health.
