Soothing Minds is a registered National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) service provider that recognises the important role of families and carers which is essential in supporting people with disability, as well as the importance of people with a disability gaining access to vital support and services. The NDIS ensured that people with a disability are given every opportunity to make their own decisions and exercise choice and control. The Scheme recognises that families and carers need support.
With the Scheme now fully rolled out across South Australia, it is vitally important that carers also have access to counselling services and support. However, if you are not able to access NDIS services, you may be able to access some support through Carers SA.
If you are a person with a disability or caring for someone with a disability and want to join the NDIS, you will need to meet certain access requirements, which include; age; residency status; the disability and in some cases any early intervention requirements, and the length of need.
Your NDIS Local Area Coordinator can help you and will work with you through the planning process, writing an individualised plan and submitting it to the NDIS. Your NDIS Local Are Coordinators will also help you with information, linkage and referral which include assisting you to building your community connections and help you to identify the supports needed and how to access them. The NDIS will review your plan and either provide and link you with information and referral to existing mainstream and community services where these are more suited to meeting your needs than NDIS funded support, or approve funding to access services.
Check to see if you are eligible for individual support within the NDIS.
If you need further information or a referral you can contact the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) directly
